Richard Svendsen Appointed to Flagstaff Tourism Commission

Good morning, AABBI members.

I am pleased to announce that, yesterday, the Flagstaff City Council appointed AABBI member Richard Svendsen (of Starlight Pines Bed and Breakfast) to the Flagstaff Tourism Commission.

I know that many of our members serve or have served in similar roles in their respective cities and towns, and even at the state level.  The participation of innkeepers in the promotion of local and state tourism is so important.  Not only does it further legitimize the contributions that B&Bs make to the tourist economy in Arizona, it also brings a unique voice to the table of small business owners who have their finger on the pulse of a particular sector of tourists that is often overlooked in analysis.

I am proud that so many AABBI members become leaders in their communities.  It speaks highly to the caliber of our industry and our organization.

Thanks to Richard for volunteering his time and energy.  I know I speak for our entire membership when I wish him all the best in his new role.
