2009 AABBI Conference? AABBI Board Seeks Your Opinion...

Good morning, Innkeepers. AABBI has a long-standing tradition of assembling an informative and enjoyable annual Conference and Trade Show. I have certainly enjoyed those of the past several years that we've been AABBI members. With the majority of our inns reporting decrease in business on the average of 30%, combined with anecdotes of equally difficult times for our Associate members and the overall uncertainty of the rest of the year ahead, the AABBI Board of Directors asks for your opinion with regard to a conference. We propose to forego our Conference and Trade Show for 2009. Instead, we would like to host a luncheon for all of our members (innkeepers and associates alike) in the spirit of coming together for support, camaraderie and to fulfill our obligations to host an annual membership meeting and hold elections. We propose the luncheon be on Tuesday December 8, will be free to attend for current AABBI members and will be hosted in Metro Phoenix, likely between the hours of noon and 3:00 p.m. Our hope is that the location, date, time and cost will allow most inns statewide to meet their morning obligations, travel to Phoenix, enjoy a pleasant day and return home in a timely manner that evening. The agenda will consist of a great casual lunch, our annual membership meeting, Board elections and, perhaps, a brief presentation or two if a timely subject seems appropriate. Of course, there will be ample time throughout for greeting friends and enjoying the company of colleagues. Check your calendars and drop me a line to let me know your thoughts. Thanks for your time.
